At the heart of Made By Mortals is me, Kyla. I’ve been working in the industry for over 20 years, and as a mum, I really value clothes that work beautifully in real life. I started this brand with a respect for traditional hand techniques and a belief in slow fashion, that clothing should tell a story of the hands that made it, the materials it came from, and the life it lives with you. I work closely with artisans in India to make sure every piece is crafted with intention, respect, and care.

Every piece begins with traditional, handmade techniques. I collaborate with skilled artisans whose craftsmanship and deep knowledge give each garment its character and soul.

We don’t follow the usual wholesale model, instead, I connect directly with you, the people who wear our clothes. That way, I can focus on building a real connection around the pieces I create, while keeping prices fair and accessible. It also means I can invest in high quality, natural fabrics and pay my artisan partners properly. No shortcuts, no inflated markups, just thoughtful fashion that feels personal, not mass produced.
